Le Mas Candille and Hugo Toro were always destined to cross paths. The architect from the South, who carries Mexico in his heart, set his sights on the region's ochres, the stones and cypresses of a farmhouse with its determined yet discreet lines, touches of mimosa, olive, emerald and fuchsia, and the rays of a scorching sun that must be tamed to be appreciated. The invitation was extended to make the trip. Here, Toro would imagine a bridge to California, taking up major 60s design codes and preparing sketches based on postcards for Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and Beverly Hills. The colours swing from sunny to dark, and the materials are always noble, whether woven, folded or pleated, imposing their presence and origins, yet in an assembly so delicate and mellow they invite guests to rest, escape and dream.
